The Mission.
We all know or love someone that has dealt with hard times. Us humans can get caught in a rut and we're not sure where to turn when our routine habits have run us into a dead end time and time again. In many environments we see what is immediately around us and cannot perceive another life. I struggled with substance abuse for years, and did not want to see the damage I was doing to my life. I had these opportunities all around me, yet I blinded myself from them. I did not want to face the truth that I actively turned away from good things, and wallowed in the suffering I had laid upon myself. Hi, my name is Austin Cargile, and I am a recovering addict. Over the past 3 years I have slowly but surely cut substances from my life, working toward ridding myself of the chains that held me down. I am currently sober from all previous vices; but I am always in recovery. They teach this in rehab. Addiction is a disease and like most diseases, they are managed with treatment. Equipping yourself with the right tools is paramount in overcoming the toxins and poisons that hold our minds captive. The world is not candy and rainbows, and you can't avoid hardships forever. That is why we must equip ourselves. I have recently become conscious of my purpose in life. I have spent roughly 10 years seeking addictive behaviors and succeeding. All while allowing my early adult life to sit on hold and await my attention. Well I won't let those years go to waste. Active, sober, healthy lifestyles are rising in popularity and I am in the perfect position to empathize with the "late bloomer"; as I like to call myself. The community we are a part of is the embodiment of better choices for each individual that is part of it. You make the rules. With Accountabili Ts, I want to bring that next person from the darkness into to the light; so that they can look inside themselves and find the purpose in their life that will drive their motivation to make a better life for themselves. If we can remember a time when our struggles had us on the ropes, then reach out now and help that person that's dealing with what is most likely the hardest time of their lives. Let's love and let go, and forgive yourself and others for not always having the ability to walk on the best path.
It's more than material.
I could care less about the shirts. That's not what this is about. The shirts are quality, and for a good cause. Hopefully selling the shirts will one day allow me to dive fully into the community. Community is what this is about. I want people to know that they don't have to go out to a bar tonight to find connection with others. We are creating more and more events on a weekly basis to create a sense of community and belonging to those sitting at home on a Friday night; because frankly, they're tired of the routine. If you're tired of it, that makes two of us. It doesn't matter who you are; if you come as your authentic self, and the problems you talk about, you are actually trying to solve, then you belong in this community.
